Research, development and innovation are at the core of InnoAdvantage: the ambitious project conducted by LELIT with the support of Tech Fast Lombardia program; a measure taken from Regione Lombardia POR FESR 2014-2020 that aims to support companies’ innovation and strengthen their potential in terms of appeal and productivity. Prosumer coffee machines is a growing and competitive sector, dominated by several players of the coffee panorama. LELIT has always been keen on research and development, and over the years it stood out thanks to remarkable innovations it introduced in the market. InnoAdvantage arises from LELIT's desire of creating new technologies to strengthen the company positioning within its market. In order to achieve its aim, the company has implemented technological improvement of products and has developed new analysis and detection information tools for new possible models. The project consisted of several phases and LELIT Team carried out the following activities: implementation of new HW and SW solutions to improve LELIT Bianca v3 L58E group performances; design of a new water tank using a special material that allows better hygienic conditions and organoleptic characteristics of water; development of water flow and pressure control using one or more vibration pumps; implementation of a new thermofilter model for lab simulation; creation of a low-cost system for measuring grouphead temperature. Implementation of new HW and SW solutions to improve LELIT Bianca v3 L58E group performances
We have improved our L58E group coffee machines performances through the optimization of the heating time: from 40 to 24 minutes. Focusing on user experience, we have introduced the LOW FLOW function, which allows to set a specific programming to regulate the water flow in the filterholder. Lastly, we have introduced the BREW TEMP OFFSET, which allows to improve water temperature control during the coffee brewing stages, enhancing the flavors of ground coffee.
Design of a new water tank using a special material that allows better hygienic conditions and organoleptic characteristics of water
We have added a new component to the current raw material that leads to:
- Improve hygienic conditions and therefore the food safety by preventing both direct and cross-contamination within the home environment and the water tank itself;
- Improve the organoleptic characteristics of water, avoiding bad smell and taste.
This material will be applied to the entire range of LELIT products.
Development of water flow and pressure control using one or more vibration pumps
We have designed a solution to introduce a precise water flow profiling and thus output pressure. The identified solution was to install several pumps inside the machine.
Implementation of a new thermofilter model for lab simulations
We have developed a new thermofilter in collaboration with Del Creatives, a coffee machines accessories design consultant. Its goal is to actually simulate flow variation and thus make the coffee brewing simulation more precise, without having to use as many instruments as the flows you want to test.
Creation of a low cost system for measuring grouphead temperature
We have realized a plastic metal filterholder with integrated sensors.
